DERIK and KAT1E Programmes

 

DERIK (Diabetes Education and Revision in Kent) is a structured education programme that has been designed to give patients up to date information about living with type 2 diabetes

The session aims to bring together people with type 2 diabetes, to give you an opportunity to share experiences about how well they can manage their diabetes on a day to day basis

.

By taking part in DERIK patients will:

  • Learn new skills to manage your diabetes
  • Develop confidence in the daily management of your diabetes
  • Meet others and share similar experiences
  • Learn about developing more effective relationships with healthcare professionals

.

KAT1E (Kent Adult Type 1 Education) is a local educational course about living with type 1 diabetes.  It helps patients develop key skills and self-manage to suit their lifestyle choices

.

The benefits of attending a KAT1E course may include:

  • reduction in hypos
  • potential for weight loss
  • increased confidence in diabetes self-management
  • improved wellbeing
