Cervical Screening

Offered to women aged 25-49 every 3 years and 50-64 every 5 years

All sample takers must have a Kent and Medway specific sample taker PIN number before taking any samples, which can be obtained through phst@nhs.net

If cervical screening sample results show borderline or low grade abnormal cell changes (dyskaryosis), laboratories will perform an HR-HPV test

  • If HR-HPV is detected, the woman should be referred for a colposcopy
  • When HR-HPV is not detected, the woman should be returned to routine screening
