Referral Forms

If you suspect cancer please a request for an MRI brain scan via e-mail to the Radiology Department at East Kent Hospitals (details on form) — East Kent GP Urgent Direct Access CT MRI Referral Form (2 week turnaround)

If the scan confirms/suggests primary brain tumour or suspicion on the report, complete the following form and submit via eRS — Brain CNS Suspected Cancer e-Referral Form

Referral criteria

Consider urgent direct access MRI brain scan for:

  • adults with progressive, sub-acute loss of CNS function

Brain MRI is superior to brain CT scanning


Consider very urgent referral for:

  • children and young people with newly abnormal cerebellar or other central neurological function

'very urgent' - within 48 hours
